The Bamboo Bar

The Mandarin Oriental hotel's superlative and historic bar has been a sanctuary for music lovers in Bangkok ever since it opened in 1953, with live jazz still a prominent part of the experience today. Combining bamboo furniture, tiger skin prints and polished service, the room has an exotic, club-like feel. The latest menu, under the stewardship of talented new head bartender Kirill Samoilenko, is called Elements and focuses on the five landscapes of Thailand: rainforest, city, mountain, island and river. Climb up to high altitude with On Cloud Nine blending bourbon, white port and strawberry with mountain herbs or take a trip into the glamour of the city with Rich & Famous, featuring vodka, caviar, white chocolate and ginger.
