Asia's 50 Best Bars is the first regional event of The World's 50 Best Bars brand, created with the purpose of showcasing the best and most innovative talent in the drinks industry in this region.
The sixth edition of Asia’s 50 Best Bars, sponsored by Perrier, was announced on 6th May 2021 at a virtual ceremony streamed on The World’s 50 Best Bars Facebook and 50 Best Bars TV YouTube Channel. The countdown was preceded by a series of special award announcements in the month leading up to the digital ceremony, including the unveiling of those bars ranked from No.51 to No.100 for the first time on 29th April.
The ranking is based on the votes of the Asia’s 50 Best Bars Academy members, comprising the most knowledgeable and travelled members of the bar industry, drinks media and mixology experts from across Asia. The Academy spans 14 countries and dozens of cities across the continent, reflecting the relative development and importance of bar scenes in different locations. The list reflects the diversity of the drinking scene in Asia, with cocktail bars in large hotels, backstreet speakeasies, tiki places, whisky bars and venues that major on wine and beer all included in the ranking.
In May 2020, the organisation behind The World’s 50 Best Bars and Asia’s 50 Best Bars launched the programme 50 Best for Recovery: Standing with the global bar community in partnership with Perrier. Its aim is to provide tangible financial relief for the industry, as well as to offer helpful resources for bar businesses as they emerge from the coronavirus pandemic and seek actionable advice and support. Asia's 50 Best Bars and The World’s 50 Best Bars are owned and organised by William Reed Business Media, the group behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants and Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. In 2017, William Reed Business Media took over from Drinks International, part of Agile Media, in the organisation of the awards and voting, with Drinks International taking the role of trade media partner. William Reed Business Media is solely responsible for organising the awards, collating the votes and producing the lists.
