suze - Official bitter Partner
A true celebrity among French Bitters, Suze is renowned for its unique bittersweet taste making it great for use in cocktails but also simply with tonic.
Famous for its iconic bottle, super cool jumpers and enthusiastic fans, the story of Suze has been around for more than 120 years.
Born in 1889, at a time when almost all spirits were wine based and therefore suffering due to the phylloxera crisis, it was Fernand Moureaux & Henri Porte who had the innovative idea to distill the gentian root, a plant traditionally used as a medicine. Its success was immediate and in 1900 the brand was honored at the Universal Exhibition in Paris, the same year as the Eiffel Tower. But this was only the beginning of a great story…
Made from both farmed gentian and wild gentian from French Mountains, the roots need at least 10 years to grow and are harvested in complete respect of the environment.
Nowadays Suze is produced in the South of France, in Thuir, just like Pernod Absinthe and Byrrh. It is strongly supported by the best bartenders who love to “do it the French way”!
So what about you? Do you Suze?
