                Official Sustainability Audit Partner

                Sustainable Restaurant Association

The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) works to accelerate change towards an environmentally restorative and socially progressive hospitality sector.

Since 2013, the SRA has been the Sustainability Audit Partner for 50 Best, using their industry-recognised sustainability assessment tool to judge the winner of the Sustainable Bar and Sustainable Restaurant awards.

The SRA defines bars’ sustainability using its holistic ten-pronged framework and assesses their performance across three core areas: Sourcing, Society and Environment.

Sourcing: recognises bars celebrating provenance and locality; sourcing ingredients responsibly; and supporting producer communities

Society: focuses on bars treating staff well; using their influence at the top end of the industry to promote sustainable and responsible alcohol consumption and supporting their local communities

Environment: recognises bars that are working to reduce their footprint; from energy, water and carbon to packaging and single-use; and minimising waste

All bars from the 50 Best and 51-100 list are eligible to apply for the award. The winner is the bar that best demonstrates that it is doing good as well as serving incredible drinks.

Learn more about the SRA’s sustainability framework and read the award's Frequently Asked Questions.

The SRA’s assessment tool, the Food Made Good Standard, is now available to help hospitality venues around the world tackle the issues affecting us all. Since 2010, more than 10,000 sites have benefitted from completing this comprehensive assessment process.

Not only does the SRA use the Food Made Good Standard to assess sustainability, it celebrates success and inspires positive change via its online community of like-minded hospitality professionals, free to join for anyone working in hospitality.
