• Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award 2022

Located on the 64th floor of a FiDi skyscraper, Overstory’s sweeping vistas and outdoor terraces receive lots of press – it's perhaps the buzziest NYC opening in years. Yet, the sights inside this collaboration between Crown Shy partners, chef James Kent and restaurateur Jeff Katz, are what makes the establishment truly great. A majestic jazz-age, art deco design transports guests to a golden age of New York.

Bar director Harrison Ginsberg’s cocktails utilise rare ingredients and complex methods. Yet, presented to the guest, they offer a simple, accessible love note to the city. His team harvested water from Coney Island to make the Tilden salt combined with reposado tequila and palo santo to create the Terroir Old Fashioned. Gotham’s original area code is honoured through the 212, a mix of whiskey, vermouth, cocoa nib, amaro and black pear. A world-class sparkling wine list offers a lighter means to start – or end – the evening. If a nightcap is required, Overstory boasts a phenomenal representation of rare spirits across all categories. SAGA, the attached restaurant is the hottest ticket in town offering an eclectic tasting menu for 16 tables nightly. And about that view: the 360-degree sightlines of the New York skyline are unparalleled and helped contribute to its win of the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award this year.
