Dante

New York City

Passing by, Dante appears to be a typical bustling West Village cafe. However, step inside and you’ll quickly realise why Dante was named The World’s Best Bar in 2019. For starters, it is credited with revitalising the Negroni’s popularity in the US as well as introducing a generation to the Garibaldi, a refreshing mix of Campari and fluffy orange juice, squeezed to order. The delicious duo are just the headliners on one of the city's best selections of aperitivos.

Keeping to the café theme, Dante’s culinary list is equally impressive, whether you’re looking for an indulgent breakfast, a lingering lunch or a full dinner. The burrata with slow-roasted heirloom tomato is not to be missed; their fire-roasted organic chicken alla diavola with green goddess dressing offers a unique take on two classics; and if you’re simply looking to graze, the charcuterie and cheese boards are top notch. The room is small, but perfect for the atmosphere: bright, airy and configured for people watching. Likewise, a dozen outdoor tables provide an unparalleled immersion into the historic neighbourhood. Soon the West Coast will also have access to Dante's indomitable hospitality as it opens its new location on the rooftop of the Maybourne Beverley Hills Hotel in the coming months.
