Brujas

Mexico City

New Entry

Brujas is named for her location, Roma Norte’s famous Casa de las Brujas, or House of the Witches. But, the true alchemy is performed inside this subterranean oasis. Decked out in warm woods and plush seating, Brujas is an ideal place to catch up with friends or share a date. Led by bar manager Gabriela Lozada, the bar’s all female ‘coven’ of mixologists spread warmth via impeccable service.

The drinks menu, inspired by witchcraft and women, salutes authors and activists through an array of herbal and floral libations. A bounty of botanical ingredients like sage, lavender and lemon balm find their way into the cauldron. Like her sister bar Hanky Panky, Brujas places great emphasis on sourcing these herbs from Mexico City’s celebrated local markets. The results are delightful originals such as Lenca, a tribute to Honduran indigenous champion Berta Cáceres, a blend of tequila plata infused with Arabica coffee beans, herbal Italian liqueur and vermouth. The witches also conjure elevated takes on classics like their Bramble (gin, redcurrant liquor, black raspberry, lime). The drinks are soothing, a bit indulgent, and entirely spellbinding – like Brujas, itself
