Superbueno

New York

Convivial Mexican-American mixology

Superbueno is a perfectly named bar. The bilingual explanation perfectly encapsulates the zeitgeist of this vibrant ode to Mexican-American culture. Industry veteran Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Jimenez collaborated with power publican Greg Boehm (Katana Kitten, Mace) to open an elevated cantina on New York City’s Lower East Side. Together, the power duo has created a festive environment buzzing with a diverse crowd from early afternoon opening through to late-night close.

Beneath the bar’s signature swinging globe lights, a talented team led by Jimenez and head bartender Kip Moffitt serve up treats for all tastes. The cocktail programme meshes the flavours of Mexico with a barspoon of NYC. Consider the signature Mango Martini (tequila, mango eau de vie, sauternes, green mango, honey) or the Adobada Bam Bam slushy, a frozen symphony of mezcal, adobada falernum, pineapple, lemon, pineapple shrub. Even basic beers are accompanied by a choice of housemade tajin or wormsalt.

For guests who prefer their fiesta alcohol-free, Superbueno also boasts a celebrated low/no list featuring cocktails like a mole negroni alongside a selection of non-alcoholic wines and beers from Mexico. Chef Cyed Adraincem’s menu continues to reflect the diverse influences of the immigrant experience with dishes like birria grilled cheese and Ensenada-style fish tacos. The complete Superbueno experience is delicious in every language!

For its staggering debut into the list at the No.2 position, Superbueno is named both the winner of the Disaronno Highest New Entry Award 2024, and The Best Bar in Northeast USA 2024, sponsored by Disaronno.
