The Dead Rabbit
30 Water St, New York, NY 1000
For more than four years, The Dead Rabbit (from Northern Irish owners Jack McGarry and Sean Muldoon) has been the go-to drinking hole in the Financial District and a destination for visitors and New Yorkers alike. The pub-like atmosphere keeps everyone relaxed, while the utter seriousness of the drinks makes for an unforgettable experience.
There is, of course, an entire Irish whiskey menu, but with cocktails such as the Cheshire Cat, which combines tequila, rhum agricole, blanc vermouth and an array of fruits, you’re never going to feel boxed in by the overarching theme – not to mention, you can also sip on wine and champagne. When it comes to food, the fare is mainly hearty and heavy – you can go whole hog with a full Irish breakfast – but, as with a drinks menu that provides something for everyone, you can also order a salad or falafel burger. From setting to service, The Dead Rabbit is exceptional, as befitting a recent holder of the title of World’s Best Bar.
