Floreria Atlantico

View Website

Arroyo 872, Buenos Aires

Inspired by the immigrant drinking dens of Buenos Aires in the 19th and early 20th centuries, Florería Atlántico is a speakeasy, Argentinian style. You’d never know it was there: access is through a florist and wine shop, down some stairs until you find a warm, welcoming and purposefully shabby basement, heaving with locals tasting their way through the best cocktails in the city.

The drinks draw on the city’s multi-national history, picking up on gin from the English, genever from the Dutch, sherry from the Spanish, bitters from the Italians, rum from the Cubans and pisco from the Peruvians. The Germans brought beer, the Turks anise and wine came courtesy of the French and Portuguese. Indeed, it would appear Argentina’s immigration policy was designed with good drinking in mind. That’s exactly what you find in Tato Giovannoni and Aline Vargas’ Buenos Aires bar, along with the kind of hospitality that keeps you coming back for more. Such qualities have also propelled Florería Atlántico flying up the 50 Best list to snag the Highest Climber crown, sponsored by Torres Brandy.
