With a predilection for the eponymously titled Sling, it’s no wonder Singapore is celebrating all things gin – and there’s arguably nowhere better equipped in the city-state than the cavernous Art Deco surroundings of Atlas. Re-opened last year in the Bugis neighbourhood, it has more than 1,000 gins on offer from around the globe, displayed in a towering ‘library’ which dominates the bar like a giant monolith for the juniper worshipper. All this before you get started on the outrageously good champagne list too.
Atlas not only excels at geography though. Flick through the menu and one can enjoy a history lesson, with gins dating back to 1910, served Martini style with an equally aged vermouth. Such impeccable surroundings demand equally attentive service – plus a truly inspired cocktail menu. Neither disappoints and the team assembled by Proof & Company’s Jason Williams and head bartender Roman Foltan deliver everything with flawless precision, resulting in a Highest New Entry title in the 50 Best list.
