India’s sunshine state of Goa is quickly gaining notoriety as the country’s most exciting destination for food and drink, and Tesouro is testimony to this fact. Opened during the pandemic in 2020 on Goa’s Liberation Day, this south Goa watering hole has all the makings of a great bar, all the while displaying that classic Goan joie de vivre and sophisticated urban Indian vibe in equal measure. This is a casual bar, beautifully embellished with Goan-Portuguese design elements, an impressive back bar, and a very relaxed alfresco area for those more inclined to enjoy the Goan evening breeze. The bar attracts all kinds – from locals to tourists, young and old, and has already found itself a motley crew of regulars who now call it home.

Well-chosen spirits come as standard, ranging from fine rum, craft gins, and agave spirits, to local heroes like feni (a local Goan-distilled spirit made from cashew or coconut). The cocktail menu is a showcase of the bar team’s creativity with drinks such as Midnight Brekkie (gin, bianco vermouth, peanut butter, watermelon, strawberry) topping the ranks as the most popular drink. It’s easy to lose track of time at Tesouro as the always-smiling bar team keeps the delicious drinks coming, and the kitchen follows suit in dishing out some unforgettable Goan Chourico Hummus.
