106 Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan
Though it’s common to taste wine before committing to a glass, there is almost never an occasion to sample a cocktail before ordering. Yet, Draft Land, the micro Taipei drinking den that barman Angus Zou launched in 2018 (he also expanded with a second location in Hong Kong in early 2019), hinges around cocktails on tap, enabling imbibers to do just that: try a drink before ordering. The minimalist, slate-gray space – which offers a minimal amount of wiggle room with a few perched tables – is designed around ease of service without sacrificing quality. Sophisticated, pre-batched drinks, like the India Pale Punch (IPA beer, gin, passionfruit, lime), hit the counter mere seconds after ordering. It’s a strong new entry to the list and one we can see rising as it exits its fledgling phase.
