Singapore’s OG homegrown cocktail bar has come a long way from its origins on Amoy Street to its sumptuous digs at the Amara Hotel. Months of research went into creating the latest ‘magazine’ menu, which launched in February 2023. This three-part cocktail list is entitled Identity – designed to represent not only the drinks but also about the ethos of the place and the values they look to convey. Within the ‘zine, Identity houses explorations into ingredients, mini-profiles of producers, such as Xavier Tan, aka “Singapore’s Bee Man”, and of course the menu items themselves.
What to choose? Start with one of the cocktails that established Jigger & Pony as a Singaporean cocktail stalwart, the Yuzu Whisky Sour. For a more contemporary option, opt for the Korean Boilermaker, consisting of hops and passionfruit-infused soju (for the ‘beer’ element) with whisky and bitters, or the Soy Milk Punk made with gin, lychee, soy milk and oolong tea, topped with a red wine float. There for a big party? Order a punch bowl to really liven up the festivities. Designated driver? The Pear & Hops hits the spot. If the savoury-inspired libations aren’t enough, some great bar snacks pair well with the buzzy vibe and excellent hospitality.
A permanent fixture on the Asia’s 50 Best Bars list since its inception in 2016, Jigger & Pony is also the recipient of the Rémy Martin Legend of the List Award 2023.
