Hong Kong, China
Immaculate presentation paired with distinguished drink-making
When a bar finds a winning combination in terms of its team, location, setting and cocktail list, awards tend to follow suit. Just so for Lorenzo Antinori and Summer Lo’s Caprice Bar, whose 24-place ascent up the list of Asia’s 50 Best Bars this year sees their venue receive the joint Nikka Highest Climber Award 2021.
Adjacent to its famed sister restaurant and Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants regular of the same name, Caprice Bar is one of the most luxuriously styled hostelries in Hong Kong. Known for its fine selection of wines and cheeses (pairings are available) as well as its stunning views of Victoria Harbour, the bar is run by a team who also shake a mean drink. The cocktail menu is thoughtfully concocted and beautifully presented. Try the Caprice Martini, made with Jura yellow wine served with a side of 48-month aged French Comté cheese, or the very popular Truffle Negroni. Dress to impress and you’ll feel right at home amongst the open fireplace, leather armchairs and handstitched tapestries. As can be expected, service is top-notch.
In 2021, Caprice Bar in Hong Kong and Sidecar in New Delhi are jointly presented with the Nikka Highest Climber Award, climbing 24 spots to place No.10 and No.16 respectively.
