Attaboy

Don’t expect a sign outside Attaboy – or a menu inside the New York City bar. In fact, the small interior space feels like your welcoming, neighbourhood bar room. Yet, this space is hallowed ground in the cocktail world. The room originally housed Milk & Honey, the ground-breaking speakeasy from cocktail pioneer Sasha Petraske. After Petraske’s tragic passing, his proteges Sam Ross and Michael McIlroy reopened the space as Attaboy. Behind the bar, the duo created some of the modern era’s defining drinks.

The roster includes Ross’ Penicillin (Scotch, lemon juice and ginger-honey syrup) and Paper Plane (bourbon, Italian orange bitters, amaro and lemon juice) alongside McIlroy’s celebrated Manhattan variation, the Greenpoint (rye, green herbal liqueur, vermouth).
