The Broken Shaker

2727 Indian Creek Dr, Miami Beach, US

By Gabriel Urrutia

In Pearl Jam’s song, Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town, Eddie Vedder sings: “I changed by not changing at all…”. The same can be said for The Broken Shaker Miami. This small bar nestled in the back of The Freehand Miami, an Art Deco era building, is homage to the true values and hospitality that Bar Lab’s Gabe Orta and Elad Zvi have brought to life in this petite Miami Beach bar and have not shied away from since day one. With their fresh cocktails, garden with fresh herbs, and a lush tropical backdrop, it’s no wonder they are one of the best.

The stunning oasis and patio/lounge area are only overshadowed by the incredible cocktails, food and hospitality. This attention to detail has given The Broken Shaker Miami another spot in The World’s 50 Best Bars, making it three years in a row, a testament to hard work, dedication and a great team.

While the cocktail menu changes to meet the needs of seasonal ingredients and the team’s creativity, bar director Gui Jaroschy is essential in sustaining that Broken Shaker vibe as the Bar Lab team continues to expand. That emphasis on team is what makes them so successful. Bar Lab has expanded to Broken Shaker Chicago and coming soon is a Los Angeles branch. While Orta and Zvi continue to spread their brand of cocktail culture throughout, one thing is for sure – Broken Shaker Miami Beach is not going to change and it’s here to stay.
